• On 2 Apr 1871 Matilda appeared on the census at 4 Leards Cottages, Woodman Road, Great Warley, Essex as an infant aged 4 months.

• On 3 Apr 1881 she appeared on the census in 12, Vicarage Gardens, West Ham, Essex, England as a 10-year-old scholar.

• On 5 Apr 1891 Matilda appeared on the census at 17 William Street, Grays, Essex as a 22-year-old married woman living with her husband and 1-year-old son.

• On 31 Mar 1901 she appeared on the census at 30 East Street, Grays, Essex as a 31-year-old.

• On 2 Apr 1911 Matilda appeared on the census at 5 West Street, Grays, Essex as a 41-year-old who had been married for 29 years with 10 children, 4 of whom had died. Obviously the 29 years is incorrect - that would have had her married at 12 years of age. She had actually been married for 21 years.

• Her death was registered during the quarter ended Dec 1931 at the Orsett registration district, with GRO reference vol 4a, page 587.

Matilda married William REED in 1889. (William REED was born about 1866 in South Ockendon, Essex and died in 1933.)

• Their marriage was registered during the quarter ended Jun 1889 at the Orsett registration district, with GRO reference vol 4a, page 437.
