• On 2 Apr 1911 Gertrude appeared on the census at 54 Gruneisen Road, Portsmouth, Hants as a 32-year-old who had been married for 14 years with 2 children, both of whom were still living. Her husband was away and she said that he was a naval stoker. 3
Gertrude married Alfred ROLPH, son of Henry ROLPH and Annie, in 1897.1 (Alfred ROLPH was born about 1877 in Galleywood Common, Essex 4 5.)
• Their marriage was registered during the quarter ended Dec 1897 at the Portsea Island registration district, with GRO reference vol 2b, page 1136. 1
