On 5 Apr 1891 Rose appeared on the census at 25 Wordsworth Street, Hove, Sussex as a 20-year-old char woman living with her brother Thomas's widow and children. 5

On 31 Mar 1901 she appeared on the census at 25 Wordsworth Street, Hove, Sussex as a 30-year-old married laundry assistant living with her son at her sister-in-law's house while her husband is away somewhere. 6

On 2 Apr 1911 Rose appeared on the census at 35 Cowper Street, Hove, Sussex as a 40-year-old ironer forewoman who had been married for 15 years with one child, but was now separated from her husband. 7
