• On 3 Apr 1881 he appeared on the census at 10, Oxford Terrace, Bramber Road, Fulham, Middx as a 27-year-old attendant S. K. museum. 4

• On 5 Apr 1891 John appeared on the census at 13 Chaldon Road, Fulham, Middx as a 37-year-old attendant South Kensington museum. 5
