• On 22 Apr 1849 he appeared as a witness to the marriage between his sister Sarah and John Spooner. 4
• On 30 Mar 1851 he appeared on the census at Upper Hoyle Street, Sheffield, Yorks as a 26-year-old scissor grinder. 2
• On 7 Apr 1861 John appeared on the census at Thompson's Houses, Howard Hill, Nether Hallam, Yorks as a 36-year-old scissor grinder. 5
• On 2 Apr 1871 he appeared on the census at 9 Heavygate Road, Nether Hallam, Yorks as a 46-year-old scissor grinder. The census image says Steel Bank Road, but both the preceding and following pages show Heavygate Road, with consecutive street numbers. 6
• On 3 Apr 1881 John appeared on the census at 66 & 68 Grammar St, Nether Hallam, Yorks as a 56-year-old provision dealer. 7
• His death was registered during the quarter ended Sep 1891 at the Ecclesall Bierlow registration district, with GRO reference vol 9c, page 171. 3
John married Susanna. (Susanna was born about 1828 in Sheffield, Yorks 2 and died in 1887 8.)
