On 3 Apr 1881 she appeared on the census in Wimblehurst, Horsham, Sussex as a 19-year-old nursemaid nursemaid in the household of Henry Padwick, Barrister and JP for Sussex. 6

On 25 Dec 1884 her marriage certificate said that she was a 21-year-old spinster and that she lived in Horsham, Sussex. Her father, George Peirce, was a farmer. 2

On 5 Apr 1891 Emily appeared on the census at 42 Nigel Road, Peckham, Middx as a 28-year-old. 7
